Concepts x New Balance - The Kennedy
"For those of you who do not know I am actually a huge sneaker fan. I saw these over at www.sneakerfreaker.com (great site for new releases). I LOVE New Balance and these definitely went to the top of my NB wish-list."
sneakerfreaker.com says:
"This would have to be the first sneaker in the history of mankind ever inspired by a dead politician! Frank Rivera at Concepts in Cambridge has given us the scoop on his nifty New Balance 999s, which were designed to reflect President John F. Kennedy's love for New England's sailing history. Trimmed in classical red, white and blue (with tan highlights), there's a host of tiny details including nylon paneling and CNCPTS flag logos, and the shoes come with a mesh bag that should be ideal to drain anything that tips overboard."
Available March 2011
Jeremy Scott x Adidas - Teddy Bears
Reuters - Twisted fashion designer Jeremy Scott was arrested after being seen with the decapitated heads of the cute and cuddly [and recently missing] Snuggle Bear twins. He was reportedly wearing them on his feet.
"OK that's not true but these things are still pretty weird. Although, I honestly had to think twice about if I'd ever consider buying these. I didn't think very long, but I had to think about it."
Nike - Dunk 6.0 DeLorean
"I almost choked on my green tea when I saw these. Don't act like Back To The Future isn't one of the best movies of all time! Here are the details you can tell your friends about:
Apparently only 1,000 of these are being sold and they're going to select stores only. Shockingly they are only 90 bucks which is kind of a slap in the face considering most people can afford them but won't be able to find them! Ha. Love that. Long live the DeLorean!"
Happy Thanksgiving to all! May God continue to bless you and yours!
MS&Co. - Selvedge Denim iPad/iPhone Sleeve
"Don't own an iPad. Don't own an iPhone. Used to have an iPod. I'm pretty sure it was stolen. (I don't really misplace things.) Anyway this item here falls into the category of "If I DID own a ____, I'd buy one of these." These awesome denim sleeves are made from 13.5oz White Oak Cone raw selvedge denim and lined with heather grey 100% melton wool (presumably to keep your iPad warm in the winter). Denim, as we all know, goes with just about EVERYTHING. Which makes these sleeves more versatile than the Hello Kitty ones you were thinking about. Reasonably priced as well. You can pick them up here."
Upper Playground - Lisa Andrews Japanese Porn Hoodie
"Jesus is my homeboy, for those of you who don't know. I didn't grow up in the church though, I got saved just a few years ago. So I often find myself looking back on stuff I used to do [quite recently, LOL] in contrast to how I live today. For instance, I went to San Francisco a couple of years ago to spend some time with some great friends. I LOVE San Francisco btw. Gotta go back soon! Anyway, my boy Aaron was running this fantastic clothing company/art gallery called Upper Playground. So I got the SICK discount (50% baby!) and I came home with two of these insane hoodies. One was like, the Mona Lisa and a bunch of other Da Vinci/Michaelangelo Sistine Chapel-ish stuff printed all over it. Insane.
Aaaaand the other was a hoodie with half-naked Japanese hookers. Now, hold on a minute...OK. There were black censor bars across the boobies so they weren't completely naked. Haha. I wore it on the flight back to NY and I'm telling you looks I got were PRICELESS. The woman sitting next to me would NOT make eye contact with me the whole flight. LOL! Anyway, for any of you interested in owning this very sweet piece of art (I still contend that it's ART, even if I don't wear it) you should double-click it on over the the Upper Playground website. Sorry, can't get you a discount playa!"
Dolce & Gabbana - Quilted Blazer
"My friends know that a suit is basically like my second skin. So when I dress down I typically just throw on a blazer and some fine denim. A blazer makes me feel confident, distinguished and best of all I'm guaranteed to never have a problem with dress code. But it's winter now (basically) and sometimes it's too cold to wear JUST a blazer, but I don't like to look bulky by wearing an overcoat. What's a guy to do?? Get thee to the Dolce & Gabbana online store and pick up their quilted navy blazer of course. Full disclosure: I don't actually know if it will keep you warm, but at least you won't LOOK like you're cold. And isn't that what fashion is all about? The look?
Oh, as a little bonus I've included D&G's ad for their new men's fragrance "The One Gentleman" after the jump. Why they didn't ask me to be in it I'll never know but it seems they got some unknown actor named Matthew McConaughey."
H&M Designer Collaboration 2010 - Lanvin
"A while back there was a video circulating the interweb (as I like to call it) about H&M's new Designer Collaboration collection. The identity of the new designer was not actually revealed in the video but many speculated that the Swedish clothing company's newest partner in crime was none other than Lanvin's Alber Elbaz. They were, of course, 100% correct.
The whole point of H&M Designer Collaboration collection is to bring high end fashion to the masses. I think this is a very smart campaign and it has been quite successful for them in the past. Consumers love the idea of actually being able to afford clothes from their favourite designers, the designer's brand reaches a broader audience and H&M sells more clothes. Somehow, the value of the brands (both H&M's and the designer's) are not lessened. Rather, there is an air of exclusivity around the whole campaign because you can only attain these unique goods through H&M. Here is a short film showing some of the collection. What do you think?"
Nooka - V-Series Zen-H
"Sometime last year I was at a housewarming for a friend and a buddy of mine was sporting a rubber strap Nooka. Now, the first time you see a Nooka you have no idea how the thing works and you invariably inquire with the person wearing the Nooka and THAT my friends, is the joy of owning a Nooka. It's a nice ego-booster because you get to be smarter than everyone in the room for 20 seconds. I'll take that.
The Zen-H from their V-Series offers the modern, minimalist aesthetic that I've always been partial to. Anyone close to me knows I very much dislike flashy jewelry and timepieces. I always say keep it simple and clean people. Let them wonder amongst themselves how much you paid for it."

Leffot Money Fold
"I really dislike wallets. I do. I don't like having extra stuff on my person. I don't carry umbrellas for that same reason. I used to have my credit card, driver's license and health insurance card wrapped with a rubber band. That's all I would carry. Honestly though I was pretty embarrassed that one time I went to the ballet and pulled out my ghetto deck of cards.
I also don't like to carry cash. I never carried cash until quite recently. Turns out the local bodega doesn't take plastic and um, when I want a beef patty I REALLY want a beef patty.
Anyway if I HAD to carry cash on me I'd slip it into this super simple, super slick cordovan fold from Leffot. You're basically wrapping your cash in expensive, supple horsehide. Hmm. Money wrapped in more money? Sounds pretty sweet to me. The only thing better would be a money fold made from recycled $100 bills.
See if you can follow the super complicated instructions for this thing below."
Step 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cole Haan - Air Liam Strap Boots
"I went apple picking upstate with a friend this weekend and I had a really great time. Nothing like grabbing a fresh one off the tree my friends. I may have inadvertently stolen a pumpkin or two as well. They were still on the vine and no one else was picking from that field? Whatever. We kept it gangster and walked off with them. ANYWAY, I'm glad I wasn't wearing THESE bad boys because they would have gotten pumpkin stuff all over them. These are what I would have worn afterwards, possibly while I was pulling a freshly baked apple pie out my brick lined hearth. I'd probably be wearing a matching velvet blazer. Nice."
Zara Man - Outerwear
Listen, summer is over. It's cold outside. So dress appropriately, and if possible dress better than everyone else while you're at it. A great place to start is with a basic herringbone coat. Reliable, timeless and pretty hard to screw up since you can wear it with jeans or slacks. Either are acceptable, both are cool.
For those of use who think they are plugged into the matrix and really wanna make a statement (like me) try out the Funnel Collar side buttoning coat. Weapons are optional.
Star Wars x Adidas - Quite possibly the best fashion collaboration since the Louis Vuitton/Diddo Velema gas masks. (That actually happened. Google it.) The geniuses from the land of sauerkraut (can't believe I spelled that right), Oktoberfest and the Nürburgring have brought us yet ANOTHER glorious contribution to the fashion world: the Stormtrooper Varsity Jacket.
What? You thought the elite soldiers of the Galactic Empire were dummies? It takes smarts to capture Luke Skywalker THAT many times. And when these Darkside cadets hit up frat parties in search of a little imperial booty these varsity jackets are exactly what they sported. (The jackets also let everyone know they were packin' a blaster rifle. Ixnay on the ightfay.)
I don't see what's so epic about this commercial, other than the fact that Chanel got Martin Scorsese to direct a cologne advertisement for them.....oh wait, that IS epic??
OK, so if you are not familiar with Vampire Weekend you probably live under a rock. Actually you live under the soil that the rock sits on. But whatever I'm not here to ridicule you. At any rate, Vampire Weekend has one of the most awesome album covers of the past few years.
It's a simple photo of an attractive blonde in a polo shirt with a "deer in the headlights" look in her eyes. I love it and as it turns out I am not alone. Well, the young lady in the photo (who's not so young anymore, she's 52) has seen the album cover and she slapped the band and record label with a "misappropriation of image" lawsuit. There's an interesting article from Vanity Fair about it [ here ] The picture in question is below. Click for hi-res.
Shout to my boy Kris Graves for exposing the greatness that is the 100 Series. Check out his gallery @ http://www.krisgravesprojects.com/
While I am not fond of umbrellas (I just dislike having to carry items in my hand when I walk), I do find that this piece from Hackett appeals to the gentleman in me (that would be most of me). It features a bespoke Italian woven nylon canopy, maple wood handle and an engraved tip cup to boot. I wouldn't mind holding that.
Ooh makes me long for Autumn. My favourite season!! I love to layer and I can definitely see myself topping off a layered fall look with these bad boys. Well, bottoming, actually. Whatever.
Shout to my boy Tim over @ pLot.Multimedia ( http://www.plotmulti.com/ ). They put this site together for Jump NYC. If your company is looking for a serious web design team these guys don't mess around. Give them a shout.
