I'm a little embarrassed to say that my iTunes library only contains a measly 10,134 songs. As a musician it should be somewhere around 20k plus. I'm working on it though. Anyway, in that collection are many of the original records that were sampled to create the contemporary hits of our generation. I thought it'd be kool to share a few as I come across them in my listening.
This is "The Edge" by David McCallum. The record appears on an album by producer David Axelrod which is why the album art shows Axelrod's name. With a bit of digging though I was able to find the back of the vinyl cover showing McCallum credited as the performer. You can listen to both records below. Enjoy.
p.s.
This is in NO WAY an attempt to discredit the talent of the great producers of our generation. Many of them were and still are an influence to me. Rather, as a music lover this is merely an attempt to spread the joy of music history and knowledge!
I long to listen to this music. I've never heard of anything of this kind
